EVANSVILLE, Ind. - In the midst of a three-match road trip, the University of Evansville women's soccer team heads to Indianapolis for a pair of matches on Thursday and Sunday.
"This weekend's going to be difficult road test for us," said Aces women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree "Butler is going to be the best team on our schedule, so obviously trying to shore up some defensive mentality of how to get numbers behind the ball and how to really take it personally to try and help keep them off the scoreboard."
Evansville opens the weekend on Thursday with a matchup with No. 22 Butler at 6 p.m. (CT) in Indianapolis. On Sunday, the Purple Aces wrap-up their road swing at Noon (CT) against IUPUI.
Last week, UE played a challenging schedule of three matches over a five-day stretch. The Aces fell on the road to UT Martin, 1-0, before returning home to Arad McCutchan Stadium, earning a 3-0 win over Tennessee Tech. Evansville closed the weekend on Sunday on the road at Miami (Ohio) falling to the RedHawks, 2-1.
"I think we played pretty well honestly in all three of those games," said McKendree. "There were periods for sure that we didn't do what we wanted but I think overall we got some confidence in the ability of seeing progress on the attacking side of things."Â
