EVANSVILLE, Ind. - With the Missouri Valley Conference Championships a week away, the University of Evansville men's and women's indoor track and field teams get one more chance to hone their skills, when they compete at the EIU Friday Night Special at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston. Along with the Aces and the host Panthers, Butler, Indiana State, Kentucky Wesleyan, Lincoln College, Millikin, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Vincennes, Western Illinois, and Wabash will all be competing.

In just its second year back, it has been a season of record breaking performances for the Aces program. The men are led by junior Stanley Chepchieng, who has a pair of victories and a top 3 finish in the triple jump so far this season, while also anchoring the UE men's 4X400 relay. Freshmen Nicholas Ryan and Alan Kerstiens have repeatedly dueled and delivered in the long jump competition, as well. Freshman Michael Boots also made his mark on the record breakers parade, besting the record in the shot put last time out at the Don Denoon Invitational in Carbondale, Illinois two weeks ago.

On the women's side, youth has been doing the serving as well, with freshmen grabbing the spotlight, as the likes of McKenna Sapp (Pole Vault), Erin Nixon (High Jump) and Taiza Alexander (Long Jump) all setting new school records. Sophomores Anna Lowry (3000 Meters) and Monica Watkins (200 Meters) have also shattered program marks this season.

The EIU Friday Night Special will be held this Friday in the Lantz Fieldhouse in Charleston, beginning at 2 p.m. with the field events, with he running events are scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
