COLUMBIA, Mo. - Competing in a pair of events on the first evening of action, the University of Evansville women's swimming and diving team sits in seventh at the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships in Columbia, Mo.

In the first event of the championships, senior Samantha Gowdy, junior Alaina Sylvester, senior Kristen Myers, and junior Emma Hennessy earned a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard relay. The Aces  finished the 200-yard relay in a time of 1:45.10, just over six-tenths of a second behind sixth-place UALR.

To close the night, Evansville swam to seventh in the 800-yard freestyle relay. Senior Madi Jones and freshman Jessie Steele held off Valparaiso early before freshman Emily Vasquez and junior Kristy Kupfer helped the Aces pull away from Valpo.

Thursday's action features the 500 yard freestyle, 200 yard IM, 50 yard freestyle, and one meter diving with preliminaries beginning at 11:00 a.m. and finals starting at 6:00 p.m..
