MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Opening its spring season, the University of Evansville women's golf team finished the first round with the lead at the Alabama State Spring Golf Kickoff at Lagoon Park Golf Course in Montgomery, Ala.
As a team, the Aces shot a 312, giving Evansville a one-stroke lead over host Alabama State. Powering Evansville was sophomore Sophia Rohleder, who shot a two-over 74 to pace the field and hold a two-stroke lead.
Following Rohleder were seniors Sydney Anderson and Madison Chaney in a tie for fourth at five-over. Junior Lexie Sollman enters the second round in 14th after carding an 84 and freshman Alyssa McMinn sits in a tie for 17th at 18-over with a 90 in the first round.
Competing as an individual, freshman Caitlin O'Donnell recorded a first-round 89, placing her alone in 16th.
Evansville concludes the Alabama State Spring Golf Kickoff on Tuesday with the final round of competition.
