JONESBORO, Ark. - In a strong field, the University of Evansville men's golf team recorded a pair of solid rounds at the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
The Aces sit in 10th after the opening day, recording rounds of 311 and 304, earning Evansville a 19-stroke advantage over 11th place Eastern Illinois. Tournament-host Arkansas State leads the way in the intercollegiate with a two-round total of 578 (287 - 291), holding an eight-stroke lead over second-place ULM.
Pacing Evansville in the first two rounds was freshman Dallas Koth, who finished five-over following the opening day with a 73 and 76 in the first and second rounds. Koth's two-round total places him in a tie for 21st, nine-strokes behind the tournament lead.
Senior Noah Reese finished two strokes off of Koth with a 151 (76-75) on the first day, putting Reese in a tie for 31st. A pair of Aces concluded the first day separated by just one stroke as Spencer Wagner (157=82-75) and Jessie Brumley (158=80-78) enter the final round in a tie for 54th and 56th, respectively.
In the first two rounds, Matthew Ladd showcased consistency, tallying an 82 and an 80 on the first day as Ladd sits in 62nd. Competing as an individual, Gabe Rohleder scored an eight-stroke improvement in the second round, finishing the day with a total of 164 (86-78) in a tie for 63rd.
Evansville concludes the Bubba Barnett Intercollegiate with the tournament's final round on Tuesday at RidgePointe Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
