SUNRISE BEACH, Mo. - Opening the postseason on Monday, the Aces competed in the first two rounds of the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Championships at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
The Aces sit in ninth after the first 36 holes of competition, recording a total of 625 (316-309) on the opening day. Illinois State leads the tournament at four-over with a two-round score of 577, holding a one-stroke lead over second-place Southern Illinois.
Senior Noah Reese led the way for Evansville in the opening two rounds with a total of 155 (81-74). Reese carded an opening-round 81 before improving by seven strokes in the second round to sit in a tie for 26th after two rounds.
Two strokes back of Reese is Jessie Brumley, who finished with a first-day 157, placing Brumley in a tie for 32nd. Joining Reese and Brumley inside the top 40 was freshman Dallas Koth, tallying a 158 (84-74) on the first day and holding a share of 37th.
Also improving in the second round was Spencer Wagner, who saw a six-stroke improvement from the first round to the second round as Wagner sits in 42nd with a total of 162 (84-78). Matthew Ladd ended the opening day one-stroke off of Wagner's pace with a two-round total of 163 (77-86), placing Ladd in a tie for 43rd.
Evansville concludes the 2019 MVC Championship on Tuesday with the tournament's final round with tee times beginning at 8 a..m. at The Club at Porto Cima in Sunrise Beach, Mo.
