TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - On the first day of competition, the University of Evansville men's and women's track and field teams recorded PRs and strong performances at the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Terre Haute, Ind.
Sophomore Anna Lowry provided one of the highlights of the day in the women's 1500 meters. Lowry captured the fourth-fastest preliminary time with a PR and program record of 4:38.26. Joining Lowry with PRs in the 1500 meter prelims were Savanna Mills (5:13.21) and Emma Boebinger (5:22.55).
On the men's side, Dawson Hood added to the Aces' tally of PRs. In the men's 1500 meters, Hood crossed the line in a time of 4:15.39, earning Hood a PR in the event.
Setting a new program record, Ian Alberts soared in the men's pole vault. Alberts jumped a PR and a program record height, clearing 4.62 meters and earning a 10th-place finish.
In the first event of the day, Ryan Freeman opened the meet with a PR. Freeman finished as the top finishing Ace, earning a share of 16th place with a personal-best throw of 41.62 meters.
Saturday's second day of competition begins at 9 a.m. with the heptathlon events, while action in the field opens with the men's shot put and women's high jump at 2 p.m. and on the track with the men's 110 meter hurdles and women's 100 meter hurdles.
