EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville women's basketball team and head coach Matt Ruffing have announced the non-conference portion of their schedule. The schedule features 12 games, including six home games, five inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse and one at the Ford Center.
"We are excited about the competitive schedule we were able to put together," said Aces' head women's basketball coach Matt Ruffing. "This non-conference schedule will prepare us for the rigors of MVC play."Â
Evansville opens competition on October 29 with an exhibition against Oakland City inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse. The exhibition is the second-straight season in which the Aces have played a pre-season exhibition following an 81-80 win over Kentucky Wesleyan last season.
The 2019-20 regular season begins on November 5 as the Aces return to the Ford Center for an Education Day contest with Brescia at 11 a.m. Evansville welcomes local students and teachers for Education Day inside the Ford Center. The last time Evansville's women's basketball team hosted Education Day, the Aces set a program record with 4,571 fans in attendance in a 108-68 win over Oakland City on Dec. 6, 2016.
After opening inside the Ford Center, Evansville goes on the road for a pair of contests at SEMO on November 10 and at SIUE on November 13. The Aces play their first regular season game inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse on November 19 as Evansville hosts Eastern Illinois.
Playing their fourth OVC opponent of the season, the Aces head back on the road on November 21 for the short trip to Clarksville, Tenn. to take on Austin Peay, a team the Aces defeated 56-52 last season.
Hosting back-to-back games at home, Evansville welcomes Marshall in for the final contest before Thanksgiving on November 24 and returns from an eight-day break on December 3 at home against Murray State. Down the stretch of the non-conference slate, Evansville heads on the road on December 13 to take on Fort Wayne before a matchup with Big Ten opponent Illinois on December 15 in Champaign, Ill.
Evansville closes out non-conference competition with a home contest with Chicago State, who the Aces earned a 67-58 win on the road over last season, on December 18 and a road game at Miami (Ohio) on December 22 before the holiday break.
"The game that sticks out the most is our Brescia game," said Ruffing. "Bringing back the elementary school kids' game will provide a unique experience for our fans and players. Â The goal is to break our program's attendance record!"
