7/21/2026 10:00:00 AM

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville and the University of Southern Indiana have announced a four-year scheduling agreement between the Purple Aces and Screaming Eagles women's basketball programs, beginning in the 2027-28 season.

The agreement involves a four-year deal starting in 2027-28 and running through 2030-31 with host sites alternating. The first matchup in 2027-28 will be inside Liberty Arena at USI. UE will host at the Ford Center in 2028-29 before the series shifts back to Liberty Arena in 2029-30. UE will host the last game of the four-game set back at the Ford Center in 2030-31.

"We're excited to announce this four-year series with USI," said UE Director of Athletics Dr. Ziggy Siegfried. "Opportunities to compete against a quality program just across town are great for our student-athletes, our fans, and the Evansville community. We value our relationship with USI and look forward to four outstanding games while continuing to support the success of both programs."

"We're excited to begin this series with USI," said UE Head Coach Ben Wierzba. "I think it's something that's important for the city of Evansville and for both programs. This series will bring out the best in everyone, and I know our fans will embrace it. We expect all four games to have tremendous energy, great crowds, and a competitive environment that showcases women's basketball in Evansville."

The matchup in 2027-28 will mark the 23rd meeting all-time, the first with both programs at the Division I level, and will renew the regular-season series for the first time since 1988. The two sides first went head-to-head in 1971. Evansville holds a 15-7 advantage all-time. The two teams face off for the first time since a 2014 exhibition at Ford Center, with USI winning 76-72.

More information about specific game dates, times, and tickets will be made available ahead of each season.
