EVANSVILLE – After a weekend split, the University of Evansville men's soccer team reaches the midway point of three-straight road matches with a showdown with SIUE in Edwardsville, Ill. on Friday night.

Last Match: Butler 2, Evansville 0
- The early going saw the Aces hold an edge in aggressiveness, earning four corners inside the first 15 minutes, but could not convert on the opportunities. Butler opened the scoring in the 34th minute as Alex Lehtinen lifted a ball into the box that Logan Lee headed over the head of Frederik Reimer and in. Evansville kept its deficit at one heading into the half.
- The Aces had a great chance early in the second half in an attempt to tie the match. In the 48th minute, Evansville earned a free kick from 25 yard out. Senior Ben Weber struck the ball after redshirt senior Zac Blaydes and senior Jesse Stafford-Lacey both ran through. Weber's effort sailed over the wall and dropped down towards goal, glancing off the cross bar and out.
- In the final 30 minutes, Butler increased its lead to two as Brandon Guhl found the back of the net in the 64th minute as the Bulldogs earned the 2-0 win.
- Despite being out-shot 15-7 in the match, the Aces held a 6-2 advantage on corner kicks.
Previewing the Matchup
- Evansville and SIUE are meeting for the 21st time in series history.
- The last time the two sides met, the Aces and Cougars battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie in Evansville on Oct. 16, 2018.
- Evansville looks to get back in the win column against the Cougars for the first time since Oct. 17, 2012, when the Aces earned a 1-0 victory over SIUE.
- Looking to end a long drought, the Aces will e searching for their first win on the road at SIUE since a 2-1 victory on Sept. 27, 1985.
- SIUE opened the season with a pair of tough opponents. The Cougars earned a 0-0 (OT2) draw with No. 16 Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. before falling to RV Michigan, 3-1, in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Monday.
- Against Michigan State on Friday, SIUE helped preserve the draw with a penalty kick save in the 108th minute by Noah Heim.
- For his efforts, SIUE goalkeeper Noah Heim was named MAC Goalkeeper of the Week.
- In the 2019 MAC men's soccer preseason poll, SIUE was picked fourth behind conference favorite Akron, Western Michigan, and West Virginia.
- The top two goal scorers from a season ago return for the Cougars as seniors Lachlan McLean and Jorge Gonzales are back for their final seasons after combining for 17 goals in 2018.
- The aforementioned Noah Heim returns for his junior campaign after allowing just 1.21 goals per match last season and recording a 72.3% save percentage. Heim also compiled six shutouts last season while playing all 1,715 minutes possible for the Cougars in a season that saw SIUE amass a 9-5-4 record.
