EVANSVILLE - After a road battle at Lipscomb two weeks ago, the University of Evansville men's soccer returns to competition on Sunday with a trip to SIUE for a non-conference matchup in Edwardsville, Ill.

Last Time Out: Lipscomb 3, Evansville 1
- The man of the match for Evansville, freshman Pablo Guillen recorded the first shot of the evening in the fifth minute that missed right of goal.
- After the BIsons earned a pair of corner kicks, it was Lipscomb who reached the scoreboard first, as Javanne Smith found Tyeese Spicer for the first goal of the night.
- Before the close of the opening half, Guillen unleashed another shot that missed its target as the Aces trailed 1-0 at the break.
- Nearly 20 minutes into the second half, Lipscomb added a second goal, this time in the 65th minute as Javanne Smith scored off an assist from Hayes Wood.
- Four minutes later, Lipscomb scored its third of the evening as Javanne Smith scored his second to make it 3-0 in the 70th minute.
- Inside the final five minutes, Evansville showed its resiliency, continuing to push for a goal.
- The Aces earned a penalty kick as Lipscomb goalkeeper Michael Sibley came out of the box and touched the ball, resulting in a yellow card and an opportunity for Evansville. Guillen stepped to the spot and calmly delivered the Aces first goal of the night and season, slotting the ball in the upper right corner to narrow the Aces deficit in a 3-1 loss to Lipscomb.
- On the night, Evansville recorded five shots to nine for Lipscomb, while the Bisons earned nine corners to the Aces one.
Previewing the Matchup: SIUE
- Evansville and SIUE are meeting for the 22nd time in series history with the Cougars leading the all-time series, 11-7-3.
- In the last meeting between the two sides, the Aces battled back from a 4-0 deficit, scoring three goals unanswered, but came up just short in the comeback in the 4-3 loss on Sept. 6, 2019.
- The Aces are coming off a 3-1 season-opening loss at Lipscomb on Feb. 6 that saw freshman Pablo Guillen score the lone goal for Evansville, earning a penalty and burying it in the back of the net.
- The Cougars enter the Sunday matchup with a 1-0 record after winning their season opener at Butler, 2-1.
- Other than Guillen who had four shots on the day, junior Nicolas Likulia was the other Ace to record a shot, taking one in the 66th minute.
- Lipscomb earned nine corners in last weekend's match, while Evansville recorded just one corner kick.
Improving on Defense
- The Aces continued to build a better defense in 2019.
- Evansville reduced its goals-against average to 1.94 after allowing a 2.26 goals-against average in 2018.
Limiting Fouls
- Evansville limited the fouls it committed in the season-opening game at Lipscomb, committing just five fouls.
- The Aces five fouls per game on the season are second-best in the nation and tops in the MVC.
