MVC Release

ST. LOUIS - As the start of the season sits just 11 days away, the Missouri Valley Conference has released its preseason poll and all-conference team in an announcement on Tuesday morning from the Conference office.

Following another outstanding season in 2021-22 and a spot on the all-conference first team, senior guard/forward Abby Feit was selected to preseason all-MVC squad. Joining five others, Feit is the first Aces to be named to The Valley's preseason all-conference team since all-time leading scorer Sarah Dickey in 2015-16.

"Abby is very deserving of making the pre-season all MVC team," said Aces head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells. "I love coaching her and beyond her obvious talent, she is a great teammate. Her growth as a player and a leader over the last year has been tremendous, and I can't wait to see the impact she will have on our team and the MVC this season."

In the preseason poll, Evansville was selected ninth of 12 teams in the MVC, its highest selection since being select eighth in 2017-18. Newcomer Belmont is projected to capture the league's championship, receiving 32 of the available 48 first-place votes. 2022 Hoops in the Heartland champion Illinois State was picked second with Drake and another newcomer in Murray State selected third and fourth, respectively. 

"Pre-season polls don't really mean much to me, but I am glad to see we have climbed a few spots from last year," sais Scherr-Wells. "I think it shows that the coaches in our conference respect the growth our program has made. Of course, we have higher goals than finishing in the bottom third and I look forward to seeing the growth steps our program will take in our 2^nd year."

Evansville opens up the 2022-23 campaign on October 29th in an exhibition against Roosevelt University at 1 PM inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
