Meeting for the first time as conference foes, Evansville and Belmont will renew their series for the 14th time when the two sides clash of Wednesday evening in Nashville. The Aces own a 10-3 advantage in the all-time series, but the Bruins captured the last meeting on Oct. 12th last season, earning a 2-1 victory. Belmont enters the Wednesday contest with just one loss on the season, a 3-0 setback to sixth-ranked Kentucky on September 2. Belmont junior Case Cox captured MVC Offensive Player of the Week honors on Tuesday, scoring a hat-trick in a 3-3 draw with UIC last weekend. The Bruins enter the match at E.S. Rose Park having gone 15 matches straight without a loss at home.

Evansville is off to one of its best starts in recent history, having suffered just two losses through eight matches, both coming to ranked opponents (No. 17 Xavier and No. 19 Missouri State). Evansville's attack through eight games in 2022 has been powered completely by international players. 12 of UE's 16 goals have been scored by players from Spain, led by Nacho Diaz's team-best seven goals on the year. The other four have been scored by junior Kai Phillip of Trinidad & Tobago (three goals) and Denmark's Oliver Hald (one goal). An unsung hero in the Aces attack, senior Carlos Barcia has been just about everywhere for Evansville. The Gijon, Spain native has scored three goals, good enough for second-best on the team, while also contributing three assists, which is also second on the team. Twice this season, Barcia has scored and assisted in the same match; first against UIW (9/3) and most recently on Saturday against Lindenwood.
