Women's Swimming & Diving Adds Quad Meet Friday At Indiana State

10/17/2023 9:13:00 AM

EVANSVILLE, Ind.—Fresh off a pair of victories this past weekend at home, the University of Evansville women's swimming and diving team has added more competition to the schedule this Friday, as the Purple Aces will take part in a quad meet with Indiana State, UIC, and the University of Southern Indiana at the Vigo County Aquatic Center in Terre Haute, Indiana.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. central time and live meet results can be found on the Meet Mobile app.

Evansville opened its season on Saturday at Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville with a pair of wins over Valparaiso (157-70) and USI (126-110).  Senior diver Madison Rollett (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) swept the women's diving competitions, while in the pool, junior Sveva Brugnoli (Rome, Italy) won both the 200-Yard Butterfly and 400-Yard IM events and freshman Rebecca Lago (Tezze sul Brenta, Italy) won both the 50- and 100-Yard Freestyle events.

Friday's meet will provide Evansville with an opportunity to race against a pair of MVC rivals in Indiana State and UIC.  Indiana State was picked second in the MVC's preseason poll this year, and they opened their season in dominating fashion last week with big wins on the road at Milwaukee and Green Bay.  The Sycamores won 31 of a possible 32 events on their way to the two victories last weekend.

UIC, meanwhile, was picked to finish sixth in the MVC's preseason poll.  The Flames opened their season victorious last weekend with a 169-86 win over Butler in a dual meet.  Sophomore Madison Hemlick led the way for UIC, winning the 100-, 200-, and 500-Yard Freestyle events in the win.

USI is coming off of its first win of the season on Saturday, as the Screaming Eagles knocked off Valparaiso, 143-88, in the double-dual meet with Valpo and UE at Deaconess Aquatic Center.
