EVANSVILLE, Ind. – For the second-straight day, University of Evansville senior diver Madison Rollett (Evansville, Ind./Reitz) advanced to the main final at the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Swimming & Diving Championships by placing in the Valley's top four in the preliminary round of the three-meter diving competition at the Deaconess Aquatic Center in Evansville.
Rollett placed fourth in the preliminary round of the three-meter diving competition with a score of 235.10. She now advances on to Saturday night's three-meter diving final competition, which will take place as part of the final session of the 2024 Valley Championships.
Rollett was joined in making the finals on Friday by three of her teammates, as junior Sveva Brugnoli (Rome, Italy) and freshmen Evelyn Chin (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia) and Rafaela Makariewicz (Porto Alegre, Brazil) all advanced to the "C Final" of their individual events on Friday.
Brugnoli and Chin both advanced to the "C Final" of the women's 100-Yard Butterfly on Friday. Brugnoli went on to finish fifth in the "C Final" and 21st overall with a time of 56.86, while Chin was not far behind in seventh with a time of 57.39. Makariewicz, meanwhile, advanced to the "C Final" in the 100-Yard Breaststroke and placed third in the final and 19th overall with a finals time of 1:05.32.
Evansville currently sits in eighth place in the Valley Championships, with a 54-points advantage on Valparaiso in the championship standings. Defending champion Missouri State currently leads the pack with a team total of 964.50 points. The MVC Championships will conclude on Saturday, with competition in the 200-Yard Backstroke, 100-Yard Freestyle, the 200-Yard Breaststroke and Butterfly events, the 1,650-Yard Freestyle, the finals of the three-meter diving competition, and the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay. Preliminary round swims will begin at 10:30 a.m. and finals will begin at 6 p.m.
