MVC play continues with road matches at Murray State and Belmont

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – In the second weekend of Missouri Valley Conference action, the University of Evansville volleyball team travels to Murray State and Belmont. The Purple Aces take on the Racers at 6 p.m. Friday on ESPN+ before traveling to Nashville to face the Bruins at 5 p.m. on Saturday evening.

Last Time Out
- UE put up a strong fight in the opening weekend of MVC play falling to Southern Illinois in five sets before dropping a 4-set contest to Bradley on Saturday
- Ryan Scheu recorded a career-high 19 kills against the Salukis while Savannah Gogel paced the offense with 14 kills in the match-up versus the Braves
 
On a Roll
- Over her last three matches, Ryan Scheu is averaging 3.29 kills per set
- Included in that tally was a career-best 19 kills in the 5-set match versus SIU
- That came just days after she posted 15 kills against USI, which was her top tally at the time
- Scheu is 4th in the MVC hitting .366 on the season and has tallied 7+ kills in 11 of the Aces first 14 matches
 
Upping Her Game
- Carsyn Kelley posted an average of 10.0 assists per set in the first two MVC matches
- For the season, she is averaging 8.60 assists, which is third in the MVC
- Defensively, she has been making strides, registering at least eight digs in each of the last five matches while averaging 2.52/set over that time
- Kelley's top mark of 49 assists came in the win over USI
 
Scouting the Opponent
- Murray State enters the weekend with a 2-12 record following MVC road losses at Drake and UNI
- The Racers are led by Anne Makowski's 3.08 kills per set
- Belmont stands at 5-8 overall and 2-0 in the MVC following road wins at Valparaiso and UIC
- Brenna Kauffeld is their top offensive weapon with 2.82 kills per frame
