Women's Soccer Opens Season With 1-1 Draw at Purdue

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville women's soccer team opened their season on Thursday morning with a strong road result, picking up a 1-1 draw at Purdue.

Senior Brooklyn Robinson (West Haven, Utah/Fremont) scored the first goal of the season for the Purple Aces, netting the equalizer in the 47th minute. Transfer goalkeeper Bri Chirpich (Gladstone, Mo./Hawaii) was stellar in her Evansville debut, making nine saves, the most by an Aces keeper since 2024 and the most by an Ace in their debut since at least 2005.

Purdue got the morning started with an early goal, taking the lead in the 13th minute. However, the Aces held strong for the rest of the first half, with Chirpich making four saves to keep it a 1-0 game.

Evansville struck quickly out of halftime, with Josie Seehafer (Inver Grove Heights, Minn./Eagan) finding a streaking Robinson at the top of the box. From there, Robinson took a touch to get around the Purdue goalkeeper before burying a left-footed shot in the bottom right corner to equalize.

Purdue put pressure on the Evansville defense throughout the second half, but the Aces held strong. In goal, Chirpich made five saves in the second half, leading Evansville to a 1-1 draw.

The result is Evansville's second against Purdue in the last two seasons and their first-ever in West Lafayette. It is Evansville's third result against a Power Conference opponent since 2009.

The Aces return to action next Thursday for their home opener, hosting SEMO at Arad McCutchan Stadium. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
