EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The visiting Bradley Braves scored two second-half goals Saturday night at Arad McCutchan Stadium, topping the University of Evansville men’s soccer team, 2-1. The loss drops the Purple Aces’ record to 5-9-1 overall and 0-4-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference, eliminating UE from MVC Tournament contention. Bradley improved to 11-4-2 on the season and 3-2 in the Valley.
In the first half, the Aces held Bradley to just one shot, outshooting the Braves, 9-1 and 4-0 on goal.
Evansville took the lead in the 25
th minute when junior
Jesse Sharp sent a cross from the left side of the field to
Alex Kapsalis on the right. Kapsalis trapped the high pass and sent it into the back left side of the net.
Bradley tied it up in the 52
nd minute on Wojcik Wojciech’s tip-in that bounced around the box after Desmond Campbell sent a cross from the left side.
Mach Keith scored the Braves’ game-winning goal on a blast from just over 30 yards out on the left side of the field. The ball sailed high and out of the reach of 6’4 goalkeeper
Eric Teppen into the back of the net.
In the match, Evansville outshot BU, 17-6 and 5-2 on goal. Sharp led UE with four shots, two on goal, followed by freshman
Dylan Terry’s three shots.
Teppen did not record a save in the match, while Braves’ goalie, Brian Billings, tallied four.
The Aces play their last home match of the season Tuesday versus Western Illinois at 7:00 p.m. Seniors
