Round One Results

AVON, Ind. – Cathy Doyle shot a 4-over 75 in Monday’s first round of the Butler Invitational and enters Tuesday as the overall leader at Prestwick Country Club.
 
Doyle’s total for round one gives her a one shot lead over the duo of Michele Nash and Julia Porter of Butler. 
 
Ten strokes behind Doyle as fellow UE player Lauren Ellerman, who carded an 85 to enter the final day tied for 15^th.  Sydney Skiles and Alyssa Key each shot an 87 while Dana Hayden notched a 95 in the opening round of play.
 
Host Butler has a commanding 18-stroke lead over second place Evansville. The Bulldogs stand in first with a 316 while the Purple Aces wrapped up Monday with a 334.  Evansville is just a shot ahead of Valparaiso and two shots on top of Eastern Washington, who notched a 336 on Monday.
 
A pair of UE players were entered as individuals, including Chelsea Zusan, who notched an 86 on Monday and Kelly Lamarche, who carded a 93.
 
Beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, the teams will play 18 holes to wrap up the event.
