HOOVER, Ala. – In Monday’s spring opener, the University of Evansville men’s golf team wrapped up the first round of the 2012 Samford Intercollegiate in tenth place entering Tuesday’s final round at Hoover Country Club.
Scheduled to play two rounds, the Aces were unable to finish the last few holes of their second round and will complete it on Tuesday morning at 7:30 a.m. with the final round set for 8:30.
Griffin Wood had the top round of the day for Evansville, shooting a 3-over 75 en route to a tie for 15
th place.
Michael Sainz was two strokes behind, carding a 77 while
Andrew Luo also shot a solid 6-over 78.
Parker Hensley recorded an 81 in the opening round while
Quinn Vilneff was a shot behind with an 82.
Evansville was one of three schools who did not finish up their second round on Monday.
Of the teams that did complete both rounds, host Samford leads the way by eight strokes over Davidson. Samford shot a 579 while Davidson finished with a 587. Sam Houston State notched a 589 and enters the final round in third place.
