Final Results
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Freshman
Cathy Doyle picked up right where she left off after last week’s second-place finish, matching her effort to lead the University of Evansville women’s golf team to another finish of second at the Belmont Invitational.
Doyle shot an even par of 72 in Tuesday’s final round at Old Hickory Country Club. Her final round was the lowest round of the day, besting Tala Mumford of Austin Peay’s total of 74. The Indianapolis native finished just a stroke off of medalist Caitlin Watts of UAB. Watts finished with a 149 while Doyle carded a 150.
Lauren Ellerman finished in 12
th place with a 157 while
Alyssa Key was right behind with a 159 to place in 14
th.
Sydney Skiles tied for 31
st with a 169 while
Dana Hayden notched a 174 to place 37
th.
A pair of freshman played as individuals for UE as
Chelsea Zusan tied for 35
th with a 173 while
Kelly Lamarche finished in 41
st with a 179.
After leading by 13 strokes after day one, Belmont padded its advantage, winning the tournament by 17 shots over Evansville. The Bruins finished with a 616 while UE notched a 633. Four Bruins finished in the top 11 overall.
The women will have 11 days off before returning to action on April 14 and 15 at the Indiana Invitational. The event will take place at the Indiana University Golf Club in Bloomington, Ind.
