BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior
Griffin Wood is tied for fifth place as the Purple Aces men’s golf team enters the final round of the Hoosier Invitational tied for fifth place at the IU Golf Club.
Wood opened up play with a 2-under 69 before shooting a 70 in the second round to finish the day with a 139.
Quinn Vilneff led all players in the first round, shooting a 3-under 68, but carded a 75 en route to a 143 to tie for 15
th entering Sunday’s final round.
Parker Hensley enters the final day tied for 32
nd with a 146 and is followed by
Michael Sainz (148) and
Andrew Luo (150).
Northwestern sits atop both the individual and team standings. The Wildcats have a seven stroke lead, shooting a 558 to IUPUI’s 565. Jake Perry of NU shot a 137 to lead a second-place tie by a shot.
IUPUI is second, followed by host Indiana, who notched a 570 while the Hoosiers’ B team is fourth with Detroit Mercy, Ohio and Evansville are tied for fifth with a 576.
The teams will play one more round of 18 holes on Sunday morning.
