HUTCHINSON, Kan. – Aces senior
Andrew Luo continued his solid run at the State Farm MVC Championship, wrapping up the 54-hole tournament alone in second place as the Aces took sixth place on Tuesday afternoon at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan.
After tying for the lead following day one, Luo carded a 76 on Tuesday to fall just a shot off of medalist Hunter Sparks of Wichita State. Sparks began the day two strokes off the lead before shooting a 73 in the final round to earn the victory with a three-round total of 217.
The University of Evansville fell four spots on Tuesday, taking home sixth-place honors. Finishing behind Luo was
Quinn Vilneff, who notched an 80 in the final round to score a 230.
Parker Hensley came home in a tie for 23
rd as his final round score of 76 put him a shot behind Vilneff.
Griffin Wood shot an 80 on the final day en route to a tie for 31
st with a 233 while
Michael Sainz rounded out the Aces with a 241 to tie for 44
th.
The Shockers, who held a 13-stroke lead entering the final round, added to their advantage, topping second-place Missouri State by 18 shots (877-895). In a close finish in the middle of the pack, Northern Iowa took third with a 902 and was followed by Creighton (903), Illinois State (904) and sixth-place Evansville (906).
