EVANSVILLE, Ind. – After an off-week following its first match of the season, the University of Evansville women's golf team will makes its way to Edwardsville, Ill. for the SIUE Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.
Ten teams will represent the field in the event including: SIUE, Ashford, Eastern Illinois, Evansville, IPFW, Lipscomb, Tennessee State, UNO, Valparaiso and Western Illinois.
Sunset Hills Country Club will play host to the tournament and will feature 6,070 yards of play and a par of 72. Play gets underway at 8 a.m. each day with 18 holes being played for a total of 36.
In the season-opening Redbird Invitational, it was freshman
Kayla Katterhenry pacing the squad as she tied for third place in the event, which featured five Missouri Valley Conference squads. Katterhenry finished the opening day with rounds of 70 and 73 before wrapping up the tournament with a 76. For her efforts, she was named MVC Women's Golfer of the Week.
Finishing behind her was sophomore
Paige Crafton. As a freshman, Crafton had the lowest average on the team and saw those efforts carry over into the fall. Her three-round score of 227 was good for a tie for 17
th place.
Behind her was junior
Dana Hayden, who registered a 242 while fellow junior
Cathy Doyle had a 246.
