EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – In the opening round of the SIU Edwardsville Intercollegiate, it was freshman
Kayla Katterhenry pacing the squad again as he opening-round tally of 82 puts her in a tie for 13
th place entering the final round at Sunset Hills Country Club.

Katterhenry finished the first round with an 82 to lead the Purple Aces women's golf squad. One stroke behind her in a tie for 19
th place was
Cathy Doyle, who carded an 83.

In a competitive field for Evansville, another freshman,
Maggie Camp, finished Monday's round with an 84 to stand in a tie for 21
st place while the duo of
Paige Crafton and
Dana Hayden totaled rounds of 87 to stand in a tie for 31
st after 18 holes.

In individual action,
Sydney Skiles stands in 52
nd with a 93 and is followed by
Rachel Marchi (T53rd-94) and
Kelly Lamarche (57
th-94).

The individual leader halfway through the event is Erika Pfaender of Valparaiso, who holds a 2-shot lead with a 76. Miriam Parker of Lipscomb stands in second place with a 78. Parker's efforts have Lipscomb on top after the opening day with a team score of 321.

Nebraska-Omaha and Valparaiso are tied for second with a 324 while SIU Edwardsville is in fourth with a 327 and Western Illinois sits in fifth with a 329. Evansville is alone in sixth place with a 336.
