EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The University of Evansville Purple Aces women's swimming & diving team hosted the University of Houston this afternoon at Castle High School and despite strong performances from multiple UE swimmers, the Aces fell by a final score of 135-104.

While swimming at an alternate pool location UE started the meet out strong with a win in the 200-yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:49.53. The relay team consisted of Michaela Kent,
Mackenzie Powell,
Melissa Ball and
Danielle Freeman.

Although they lost the meet the Lady Aces had a strong overall performance, especially from Danielle Freeman and Mackenzie Powell. Freeman finished first in the 50 and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 24.17 and 52.74. Powell also finished first in two events, the 200-yard IM and the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 2:11.71 and 1:07.52.

For Houston the top performer of the day was Danielle Shedd who not only won both diving events but set a new pool record in the 3-meter with a score of 293.85.

The Aces will look to bounce back next week as they host Miami, Ohio in a dual meet on Jan. 18 at 2 p.m. That meet will also be held at Castle High School.
