EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The duo of
Ashley Ring and
Genesis Miranda combined for 36 kills as the Purple Aces volleyball team earned an exciting 3-0 win over Bradley on Friday evening at the Carson Center.

Ring and Miranda each recorded 18 kills for UE (5-11, 1-3 MVC) while hitting .311 and .333, respectively. They were responsible for 36 out of the Aces' 46 kills on the night.Â
Grace Carter finished the night tied for the game-high with 39 assists while
Tathianna Cordero led everyone with 20 digs.

Bradley (0-15, 0-5 MVC) had three players finish in double figures in kills, led by Madison Kamp and Jessie Tulacka, who notched 13 apiece. Taylor Thiele finished the night with 10.

The Braves got off to a quick start in the first game, going up by a 9-4 score early on. With the score tied at 4-4, the Braves scored the next five as Taylor Thiele posted three-straight kills to cap off the run. With
Stephanie Cerino serving, UE got back within one at 10-9. She posted a kill and service ace in the run.

The Braves fought back to go up by four once again as a Lea Sack service ace gave them a 16-12 advantage. Behind a total of four Ashley Ring kills in the frame, the Aces made their way back to take a 25-22 win. UE retook the lead at 18-17 with a Ring kill and with the score tied at 22-22, UE scored three in a row, led by a
Cathy Schreiber kill.

Game two saw the Aces with the quick start, going up 4-1 as Genesis Miranda posted a kill. After the Braves got within a pair, UE re-extended the lead 15-8 and never looked back. Ring was great down the stretch, posting three kills for UE's final points in a 25-17. She had five kills in the frame as the Aces hit .290. Ring led the way in that department, coming in at .556.

After being down 5-1 to begin the third frame, UE came right back as Ring registered a kill to knot it up. Bradley refused to give up, reeling off the next three, including a pair of Thiele kills. They matched their largest lead of five points at 18-13 as Madison Kamp notched a pair of tallies.

Evansville made its move, getting within two at 21-19 only to see the Braves go up by a 24-20 margin. What transpired next was one of the most exciting sequences in recent memory. With Tathianna Cordero serving, the Aces reeled off four points in a row with Miranda posting three kills in the run.Â

Her third kill in the rally gave the Aces a 25-24 lead, just one point away from the match. The competitive nature of both teams came through in a big way. Not only did Bradley come back, but the back-and-forth play saw both teams have their chances to win. Finally, with the score tied at 38-38, Ring's 18
th kill of the night, coupled with a BU error saw Evansville clinch the match on the cusp of a 40-38 win.

On Saturday, the Aces complete the weekend with a home match against Loyola beginning at 6 p.m.
