Opening Round Results
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Looking for her third victory, freshman
Kayla Katterhenry is in the thick of the hunt as she is tied for third place halfway through the Indiana State Invitational at the Terre Haute Country Club.
Katterhenry posted a 3-over 75 in Sunday's opening round of play and is tied for third place. The Newburgh, Ind. product is just two strokes off of the lead.
One shot behind her is
Cathy Doyle. She carded a 76 on Sunday and is in fifth place overall. In a tie for 30
th place is sophomore
Paige Crafton. Her opening round of an 82 tied her for 30
th place.
Carding an 86 was
Maggie Camp while
Dana Hayden recorded a 92 in the first round. Three individuals played for the Purple Aces.
Sydney Skiles posted an 83 and is tied for 35th.
Kelly Lamarche and
Rachel Marchi posted rounds of 88 and 100, respectively.
As a team, the University of Evansville is tied for fourth place in a field that features six Missouri Valley Conference schools. The Purple Aces finished the day with a 319 and are tied with UNI. William Woods leads the way with a 312 while Indiana State is one shot behind with a 313. Drake is in third with a 316, ahead of UE and UNI.
William Woods also features the individual leader as Myriam Hassan finished Sunday's opening round with a 1-over 73. She is a stroke ahead of Danielle Lemek of Bradley, who had a 74. Katterhenry along with Amanda Smith (Indiana State) are in a tie for third.
Monday will feature 18 more holes of play at the Terre Haute Country Club.
