EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - The University of Evansville men's soccer team (2-10, 0-4 Missouri Valley Conference) was defeated 2-0 at SIUE (8-3-1, 2-1 MVC) on Saturday evening.
"There are no easy games in the Valley and when you are on the road they are that much more difficult," said Evansville head men's soccer coach
Marshall Ray. "We were organized and defended well from front to back in the run off play. Our undoing came on two long throws in the second half."
The Purple Aces amassed just one shot on goal in the contest, a 24
th minute header from sophomore midfielder/defender
Ian McGrath that was saved by SIUE sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Dal Santo.
The Cougars broke a scoreless tie in the second half on a header from senior defender Brett Lane in the 64
th minute.
Ahead 1-0, SIUE tallied another goal in the 80
th minute for the 2-0 victory.

Greg Niven recorded six saves in the match. McGrath led the Purple Aces with two shots in the contest.
Evansville is on the road for their next match at Lipscomb (Oct. 20). The Aces return home to host Missouri State and Indiana Youth Soccer Night on Oct. 24.
