EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Missouri Valley Conference announced on Monday that University of Evansville baseball player Kevin Kaczmarski was named Player of the Week.

MVC Release

The outfielder piloted the Purple Aces to four wins this past week, leading the team in batting average (.455), hits (10), triples (one), home runs (one), runs batted in (seven), total bases (17), slugging percentage (.733) and stolen bases (four).

Kaczmarski was 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI in a 13-3 rout of SIUE on Tuesday, April 14.  He also had three steals in the game, leading Evansville to a season-high 11 stolen bases, just two shy of a single game program record.

The redshirt senior then added another two hits in UE's 2-1, 14 inning win at Indiana on Wednesday, April 15.

Kaczmarski had a three hit night in the series opener against South Alabama on Friday, April 17, falling just a triple shy of the cycle. Kaczmarski also hit a two-run home run in the game, his third home run of the season.

He then added three more hits in a doubleheader sweep of the Jaguars on Saturday, April 18, tacking on a two-run single and a run producing triple. The triple was the 17th of his career at UE, tying Pat Schulz (1990-93) for second most in program history.

This is the fourth Player/Pitcher of the Week award for the UE Baseball team this season.

Outfielder Josh Jyawook was named MVC Player of the Week on Feb. 16 after his .385 weekend series against Arkansas – Little Rock. He scored a team-high five runs, hit a home run (grand slam) and collected 8 RBIs in the three-game set.

Left-hander Brodie Harkness was selected as Pitcher of the Week twice (Mar. 9, 23). The freshman threw 6.0 scoreless innings of one-hit ball in a victory over Western Illinois on Mar. 7. He also struck out a career-high eight in the win. Harkness also threw a career-high 8.0 innings in a win over #18 Dallas Baptist on March 20, yielding just one unearned run on four hits.

UE (20-16) has four games this upcoming week including a Wednesday, April 22 home contest with Northern Kentucky. The game will be held at Braun Stadium and begin at 6:00 p.m. Tickets to the game are $7 for adults and $5 for seniors/children.

Evansville then visits Bradley this weekend for a three-game weekend series beginning on Friday, April 24.
