PEORIA, Ill. – The University of Evansville baseball team (21-18, 5-9)  received a two hit, two RBI game from outfielder Josh Jyawook but the Purple Aces were defeated 8-4 at the Bradley Braves (29-10, 7-4) on Saturday night. Jyawook has now hit safely in each of the last 17 games for UE and is batting .340 this season.
 
"I feel like we didn't play good baseball at all," said Evansville head coach Wes Carroll. "You are not going to win many games when you have nine walks on the pitching side and another 12 strikeouts offensively."
 
Trailing 1-0, Evansville tied the game in the second inning with a leadoff home run from designated hitter Korbin Williams. It was his third home run of the season and first since hitting a pair of home runs on February 22.
 
UE then took the lead in the fifth when outfielder Jarod Perry reached on a bunt single, moved to third on a pair of errors and scored on a Jyawook RBI groundout. The 2-1 advantage was short-lived though as Bradley earned their first hit in the bottom of the inning on a Carson Weber single and Spencer Gaa tied the game on an RBI single up the middle. It was Gaa's second RBI of the game and fifth of the weekend.
 
Tied at 2, UE had a chance to re-gain the lead in the sixth. Infielder Jonathan Ramon hit a leadoff double to left, moved to third on a wild pitch but was left stranded in scoring position.Bradley then went ahead with a Drew Carlile three run home run in the sixth, two more in the seventh and another run in the ninth.
 
Down 8-3, Evansville scored a ninth inning run on a wild pitch but reliever Cameron Roegner retired the last two hitters to secure the Bradley victory and series win.
 
BU right-hander Steve Adkins (6-2) received the win, yielding three runs (two earned) in 6.2 innings. UE righty Patrick Schnieders (2-6) took the loss, pitching 6.0 innings and allowing five runs. Roegner threw the final 2.1 innings for his second save.
 
Perry tallied a pair of hits, extending his on base streak to 40 games. Outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski, was 1-for-5, moving his hitting streak to 12 games. He is batting a team-best .425 this year. Infielder Stewart Nelson also had two hits.
 
UE will look to avoid a sweep in the series finale on Sunday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m. CDT. The Aces next home game is Tuesday, April 28 against Indiana. First pitch is 6:00 p.m. at Braun Stadium. Adult tickets are $7 as senior/youth tickets are just $5.
