EVANSVILLE, Ind. –
The University of Evansville Purple Aces baseball team (27-19) set a new season-high in runs with a 19-2 victory over the UT-Martin Skyhawks (15-31) on Wednesday night.

"It was a great game for our hitters to bust out," said Aces head coach Wes Carroll. "With four guys getting three hits apiece and Ryan Billo giving us a quality start, we hope to keep our momentum going into Wichita."

UE seized the lead in the bottom of the first inning. Outfielder Kevin Kaczmarski put the Aces ahead with an RBI single, moving his hitting streak to 20 straight games. First baseman Eric McKibban added a sacrifice fly later in the frame for the 2-0 advantage.

Up by two, Evansville tallied four more runs in the second. With a pair of runs already home, Kaczmarski plated another with a triple, the 20th of his UE career.

Ahead by 6-2, UE scored six additional runs in the fourth when the Purple Aces batted around. Infielder Shain Showers added two RBIs on a single as Evansville raced ahead 10-2.

The Purple Aces scored four in the fifth, two in the sixth, and one more in the seventh for the 17 run victory, the largest this season for UE.

Billo (7-1) received the win, yielding just two runs on six hits in 5.0 innings. Relievers Patrick Schnieders, Jimmy Ward, Forrest Herrmann and Alex Gould pitched 1.0 innings each to complete the season sweep of the Skyhawks.

Kaczmarski finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored and two runs batted in. He increased his nation-leading batting average to .468.

Infielder Jonathan Ramon, Showers and outfielder Korbin Williams (career high) all recorded three hits each as well. Showers matched a career high in hits as Williams set a new career best mark. Showers also had three RBIs.

Catcher Billy Lipari created a new career high with three runs scored as Ramon tied his career best in the category.

Outfielder Jarod Perry was 1-for-5 with two walks, advancing his on-base streak to 47 straight games. Ramon is now on a nine game hitting streak. Lipari has hit safely in seven straight games.

Evansville will now visit Wichita State this weekend for a three game series beginning on Friday, May 8 at 6:30 p.m. CDT. The Aces' next home game is Thursday, May 14 against Austin Peay at 6:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $7 as senior/youth tickets are just $5.
