EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The University of Evansville women's basketball team plays its final non-conference game on Tuesday when the Aces travel to take on Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at 1 p.m. inside the Show Me Center.
The Purple Aces are coming off a split last week opening with a 96-59 victory over Oakland City on Thursday inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse before falling to UIC, 96-77, on the road in Chicago on Saturday afternoon. In the Aces' 96-59 win over the Mighty Oaks, 14 career-highs were set by Evansville including career-best scoring performances from sophomore guard Macie Lively (20 points), freshman guard Kayla Casteel (14), sophomore guard Crimson Jones (12), sophomore center Kaylan Coffman (10), and sophomore guard Kadie Dearing (8).
For the third straight week, the University of Evansville basketball team has had a student-athlete named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week with freshman guard Kayla Casteel earning the honor after a pair of impressive performances. On the week, Casteel averaged 13.5 points while shooting 53.3% (8-15) from the field, 58.3% (7-12) from beyond the arc, and going a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line after entering the week without a point in her collegiate career. The freshman also showed poise in her first appearances with increased minutes, committing just two turnovers in 42 minutes of action.

Evansville and SEMO are meeting for the ninth time with the Redhawks owning a 5-3 advantage in the all-time series. In the last matchup, SEMO earned a narrow 76-74 victory over the Aces at the Ford Center on November 20, 2016. The Aces are searching for their first win in Cape Giardeau as SEMO has won the previous three meetings on its home court. The last time the two sides met in Cape Girardeau, SEMO captured an 88-61 win during the 1993-94 season. This matchup marks the fourth team from the Ohio Valley Conference that Evansville has faced this season; games in which the Aces are 1-3.
