Freshman Makayla Wallace led the way for the Purple Aces with 16 points in 21 minutes off the bench on 7-9 shooting. Joining Wallace in double-figures for the Aces was senior Brooke Bishop, who had 10 points on the evening, Helping fill-in the stat sheet, junior Kaylan Coffman finished the evening with five points, six rebounds, four blocks, and one steal. The Aces showed a propensity for attempting threes in their exhibition against Kentucky Wesleyan, recording 42 attempts and hitting 10, but attempted just 15 against Murray State, hitting three.

In the early moments of the game, Evansville opened with a 5-2 lead with buckets by seniors Kerri Gasper and Bishop. Following the early advantage for the Aces, the Racers responded with a 15-2 run midway through the opening 10 minutes, providing Murray State with a 17-5 advantage with 2:44 left in the first quarter. The lead continued for the Racers as Murray State saw its lead increased to 21 midway through the second quarter before taking a 36-22 advantage to the break.

After coming out of the half, the Aces trimmed the Murray State lead to 12 as Wallace got into the paint and finished, but it was the Racers who again had a response. MSU raced out to its largest lead of the quarter at 27 at 56-29 on a 20-5 run with four minutes left in the period before Evansville chipped the Trojans lead to 20 heading into the fourth quarter. The final frame featured both teams scoring back-and-forth. Evansville was able to work Murray State's advantage as low as 18 early on in the period, but could not move any closer in the Racers' 81-53 win.

The Aces are next headed for a contest with Chicago State on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. in Chicago, Ill..
