EVANSVILLE, Ind. - In its third-straight match against an opponent with one or less losses, the University of Evansville men's soccer team travels to Macon, Ga. for a matchup with Mercer on Sunday.
Due to expected inclement weather as a result of Hurricane Florence, the Purple Aces and Bears contest has been moved up to 11 a.m. (CT).
Evansville is coming off a road loss at Northern Kentucky, 3-0, on Tuesday. After a competitive first 23 minutes of action, the Norse opened the scoring with a goal in the 24th minute. The Aces generated a few chances as the first half wound to a close, but UE was kept from tying the match at the half. In the 50th minute, NKU pushed its lead to two before adding a third goal inside the final 10 minutes of the match.

On Sunday, the Aces and Bears meet for the fourth time in series history and the first time during the regular season since 2014. Evansville holds a 3-0 advantage in the series, capturing the last meeting between the two sides, 3-1 at Arad McCutchan Stadium. The previous three contests have all taken places as part of the Aces Soccer Classic in Evansville (1999, 2007, 2014). Mercer heads into Sunday's match with a 4-1-1 record and following a full week away from action. The Aces and Bears have two opponents in common with Mercer finishing with a 1-1 double-overtime draw to Missouri State on September 7 and falling to Eastern Illinois, 2-1, o September 9. Evansville and EIU played to a 1-1 draw on August 31 and UE and Missouri State will face one another on September 29.
