EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Following a 10-game non-conference slate, the University of Evansville women's soccer team opens Missouri Valley Conference play with a matchup with Indiana State at 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon at Arad McCutchan Stadium.
"They're confident right now, I would imagine, winning six games and getting some results," said Aces' women's soccer head coach Krista McKendree. "I don't think anything different is going to happen, They're always a gritty team that fights, they just have a better record than they have had in year's past to this point.
The Purple Aces are coming off a weekend that saw UE earn a 2-2 double-overtime tie with Purdue Fort Wayne on Friday before falling in a hard-fought match to Saint Louis, 1-0, on Sunday, Against Purdue Fort Wayne, Evansville jumped out to a 2-0 lead before the Mastodon scored twice to tie the match at two in the draw. On Sunday, the Aces defense shined as sophomore goalkeeper Michaela Till tied a program record with 15 saves as Evansville fell, 1-0, on the road.

Saturday's match between the Aces and Sycamores is the 23rd all-time meeting between the two teams with Evansville holding a 13-8-1 advantage in the series. The last time UE and Indiana State met, Evansville picked up a 2-1 victory over the Sycamores on October 18, 2017. Indiana State enters Saturday's contest with a 6-3-2 record and are coming off an 8-0 win over Chicago State on Sunday. Offensviley, the Sycamores are powered by Katie Wells who leads the MVC in goals (7) and assists (6) through 11 matches this season. In goal, Hannah Sullivan has spent all 1,028 minutes between the posts for Indiana State, making 38 saves and holding a 0.96 goals-against average.
On Saturday, the Aces will hold Field of Dreams Uganda Day at Arad McCutchan Stadium. Fans can learn more about the mission and impact of Field of Dreams Uganda as well as shop at Field of Dream's Uganda's booth for Ugandan goods. Donations will be accepted for Field of Dreams Uganda to fund their educational and outreach efforts.
