ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Brielle LaBerge has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, the league office announced.
University of Evansville Women's Soccer Junior, Brielle LaBerge has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week after completing a two-goal performance last weekend. LaBerge is the first player this season to earn two MVC Player of the Week selections, and one of two players this season to earn three weekly honors.
LaBerge helped lead the Aces to a 2-1 victory over Belmont for their first conference win of the season. The Junior struck quickly with a goal just two minutes into the game. Fellow Junior Lindley Amick saw LaBerge one-on-one during a free kick and launched the ball straight to her. LaBerge flicked the ball right over the head of the Bruin keeper and into the top middle of the goal. LaBerge found her second goal during a penalty kick in which she fired the ball right behind the keeper to regain the Aces' lead. Her performance was critical in the Aces first conference win of the season.
LaBerge secured her second brace and fourth goal of the season and now ranks fifth in the MVC in goals per game.
The Aces return home after nearly a three-week string of games on the road with a home matchup versus Northern Iowa this Thursday at 6 PM CDT.
