Box Score CHICAGO, Ill. - Making a strong rally in the fourth quarter, the University of Evansville battled back, but had their late run fall short in a 61-56 loss to Loyola on Friday afternoon in Chicago, Ill..
Pacing Evansville, redshirt senior Brooke Bishop finished with 14 points with 10 coming in the opening quarter. Senior Kerri Gasper also finished in double-figures, scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds, becoming the 20th player in program history to reach 1,000 points in their career. Also scoring double-digits for the Aces was freshman Makayla Wallace, who scored 10 points, adding five rebounds, three steals, and an assist. Three Ramblers scored in double-figures, led by Tiarra Wallace, who had 14 points on the afternoon.

Beginning the first quarter, both sides traded baskets with Loyola taking a 10-8 lead with 1:56 left in the period. To close the quarter, Evansville went on an 8-0 run, taking a 16-10 advantage into the second quarter. The second period was marked by a 17-4 advantage by the Ramblers as the Aces shot just 14.3% (2-14) from the floor with Loyola taking a 27-20 lead to the half.
Evansville began its rally late in the third quarter as the Aces battled back from a 14-point deficit to get within 10 heading into the fourth. Opening the fourth quarter, Loyola increased its lead to 13 on a three by Maya Dunson with 9:01 remaining in the game. Both teams failed to score over the next 3:08 when sophomore Kayla Casteel hit a triple followed by a layup by senior Marley Miller that cut the Rambler's lead to just eight with 4:51 left on the clock. After a Wallace layup, Evansville's lead sat at just six, but Loyola pushed back out to a nine-point advantage with 20 seconds remaining. Manufacturing one last run, Gasper was fouled on a layup and converted the free-throw to make it a six-point Ramblers' lead again. With the seconds ticking away, Gasper followed with a three-pointer that trimmed Loyola's lead to just three with three seconds left, but Loyola converted two free throws to secure the 61-56 win.
The Aces finish the MVC road trip with a contest at Valparaiso on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. in Valparaiso, Ind..
