Aces stage second-half rally in loss at Bradley

Box Score PEORIA, Ill. - Closing the game with an 11-point advantage in the second half after trailing by as many as 35 in the first half,, the University of Evansville women's basketball team fell to Bradley, 81-63, on Sunday afternoon on the road in Peoria, Ill.

Pacing the Aces, senior Marley Miller tied a career-high with 21 points, matching her point total from Evansville's overtime loss at Marshall on Nov. 29, 2018. Also finishing in double-figures for Evansville was freshman Anna Newman who also tallied a career-high with 14 points, besting her previous career-high of 13 points scored against Bradley on Jan. 11. Another career mark was tied by junior Kaylan Coffman who matched her career-best with 11 rebounds. Leading Bradley were four double-figure scorers, led by Nyjah White who had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Beginning the game, Evansville took an early 7-5 lead, but saw Bradley respond with a 6-0 run to go ahead 11-7 and force an Aces' timeout. Coming out of the timeout, the Aces responded well, eventually taking a 15-13 lead on a layup by Marley Miller with 2:21 left in the opening quarter. After Bradley retook the lead, Evansville remained close to the Braves, trailing 23-21 at the end of the first quarter. Bradley took early control of the second quarter, manufacturing a 10-0 lead to open a 33-21 advantage on the Aces before building its lead to 27 at 55-28 heading into the half.

The Braves lead reached its largest point of the third quarter with 7:07 left in the period as Bradley converted an and-one that pushed its lead to 35 at 64-29. Over the final seven minutes of the quarter, Evansville cut into its deficit, closing within 24 at the end of the period. In the fourth quarter, Evansville continued its strong form, trimming the Braves' lead as low as 18, as Bradley captured the 81-63 win.

Evansville returns home for two weekend MVC contests, beginning with a 6:00 p.m. matchup on Friday evening against Loyola inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.
