Women's Basketball set for matchup with Valparaiso on Friday

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Returning to Meeks Family Fieldhouse for a pair of MVC contests, the University of Evansville women's basketball team opens the weekend with a matchup with Valparaiso at 6:00 p.m. on Friday evening inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.

Last Game: Bradley 81, Evansville 63 (Peoria, Ill., Feb. 10)
  • Evansville closed its road trip to central Illinois with an 81-63 loss at Bradley on Sunday afternoon in Peoria, Ill.
  • Senior Marley Miller tied a career-high, scoring 21 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, reaching 21 points earlier this season on Dec. 21 against Wisconsin. Sunday's performance marked the 11th time this season that Miller scored in double-figures with six coming in MVC play.
  • Also setting a career-high, freshman Anna Newman finished with 14 points, improving her previous career-best of 13 points that was set against Bradley on Jan. 11.
  • Tying her career-high in rebounds, junior Kaylan Coffman recorded 11 rebounds, matching her 11 boards on the road at Marshall on Nov. 29.
  • Limit its turnovers, the Aces set a Renaissance Coliseum record for the fewest turnovers with five against the Braves on Sunday afternoon.
  • Playing just 18 minutes due to an early injury, freshman Sydney Tucker tallied nine points in the opening quarter.

Next Opponent: vs. Valparaiso

  • Evansville and Valparaiso are meeting for the 16th time in series history.
  • In the last meeting between the two sides, the Crusaders captured a 93-49 win over Evansville on Jan. 20, 2019 in Valparaiso, Ind.
  • The Aces are looking for their first win in the series with Valpo since a 70-65 victory on Nov. 30, 2016 in Valparaiso, Ind.
  • Valpo has won the last three contests, but Evansville has captured wins in three of the last six matchups.
Second Half Runs
  • In two of the last three games, Evansville has excelled in the final 20 minutes of the game.
  • Against Indiana State, the Aces kept pace with Indiana State in the third quarter and then earned an 18-15 advantage over the Sycamores in the fourth quarter.
  • On Sunday afternoon against Bradley, Evansville out-scored the Braves, 35-26, battling back from a 35-point deficit in the third quarter.
  • The Aces have out-scored their opponent five times during MVC play this season.
