"New season" begins for Aces Thursday in Hoops in the Heartland opener

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - After 29 regular season contests, the University of Evansville women's basketball team heads into a new opportunity with a matchup with No. 7 seed Loyola at 7:02 p.m. on Thursday night in the opening round of Hoops in the Heartland in Moline, Ill.

  • On Senior Day, the Aces battled back from a 21-point deficit, but fell short in an 80-60 loss to Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon.
  • Evansville trailed by as many as 21 points in the third quarter, but cut its deficit to nine early in the fourth quarter of Saturday's loss.
  • Senior Kerri Gasper recorded her fifth 20 point game of the season with a 21-point performance against SIU.
  • Tying a career-high, senior Marley Miller tallied nine rebounds to lead the Aces on Saturday afternoon.
  • Marking her second-straight start, senior Tattenai Hall started her senior day contest against SIU, seeing 13 minutes of action.
  • Freshman Anna Newman notched a team-best four assists in just 19 minutes on the court.
  • Evansville succeeded in getting to the charity stripe, attempting 20 free-throws against SIU.

  • Evansville and Loyola are meeting for the 37th time in series history.
