Box Score EVANSVILLE, Ind. - On Senior Day, the University of Evansville battled back from 21-point deficit in the third quarter, but fell short in an 80-60 loss to Southern Illinois on Saturday afternoon inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.

Pacing Evansville was senior Kerri Gasper who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds in her final home game. Two other seniors scored in double-figures as Marley Miller recorded 13 points and tied a career-high with nine rebounds and Brooke Bishop scored 11 points with seven coming in the first half. The Salukis were led by Brittney Patrick who finished with 19 points as one of four Salukis in double-figures.

The Aces kept pace with SIU in the opening quarter, never letting the Salukis lead by more than five and closing to within three at 15-12 at the end of the first period. A crucial stretch of the contest came as the Salukis went on an 11-0 run to take a 29-14 lead, en route to out-scoring Evansville, 24-13 in the quarter, taking a 39-25 lead at the half.

In the third quarter, SIU's lead swelled as high as 21, but the Aces made a late run to chip away at the Salukis' advantage. Trailing by 18 with 2:03 remaining in the third period, Evansville mounted an 8-2 run to close the quarter and head into the final 10 minutes trailing by just 12 at 56-44. Evansville continued to trim into its deficit in the fourth quarter as a three-pointer by Gasper pushed the Aces with nine with 8:29 left in the contest. After Evansville's run to within single-digits, SIU responded, with a 12-2 spree to build its advantage to 19 with 5:38 remaining on the clock. The two sides traded baskets over the final five minutes of the game as SIU secured an 80-60 victory in both team's season finales.

Evansville next heads into the postseason as the Aces will compete as the No. 10 seed in Hoops in the Heartland with a matchup with No. 7 seed Loyola set for 7:02 p.m. on Thursday night in Moline, Ill.
