Aces road trip continues at Illinois State

NORMAL, Ill. - Looking to bounce back after a loss at Bradley, the University of Evansville women's basketball team travels to take on Illinois State on Sunday at 2 PM in Normal, Ill.

Last Game: Bradley 82, Evansville 51
  • Leading the way for Evansville was freshman Abby Feit, who tallied a team-best 18 points to go along with eight boards, including 15 points in the first half.
  • Feit was accurate in all facets of the game, shooting 46% (6-13) from the field, 60% (3-5) from three, and 75% (3-4) from the line.
  • Also recording impressive performances were junior Lola Bracy (nine points), freshman Jossie Hudson (seven points), and sophomore NaTaya Partee (six points).
  • Scoring a game-high 24 points, Lasha Petree powered the Braves, going 10-18 from the field and recoreding four blocks.
  • Bradley used a 23-10 run in the second quarter to earn a 17-point advantage at the half that proved to be the difference after Evansville challenged the Braves early on.
  • The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair that saw five lead changes. Bradley took an 8-4 lead on a three-pointer by Tatum Koenig just past the two-minute mark of the opening period.
  • Responding to the Braves' three, Feit hit a triple of her own as part of her 15 first-half points, that cut the Braves' lead to one at 8-7.
  • The Aces would go in front 11-9 with 4:24 left in the quarter on a layup by Poland.
  • After the game was tied twice more in the final four minutes, the Braves scored two free throws late to take a 15-13 advantage after the first quarter.
  • Bradley scored four-straight to open the second period, but Evansville worked back within four just minutes later.
  • The aforementioned run for the Braves started with just less than eight minutes remaining before the break as Bradley increased its lead from four to 17 to hold a 45-28 lead at the half.
  • In the third quarter, the Aces were limited to just five points and shot 1-10 from the field as the Braves' built a 65-33 advantage with one quarter to play.
  • Evansville battled back in the final stanza, out-scoring the Braves, 18-17, as Bradley earned the 82-51 win.
  • Later in the game, Evansville would push to within eight, but the Aces could not draw any closer in the 72-64 loss.
Previewing the Matchup
  • Evansville and Illinois State are meeting for just the 54th time in the series history with the Redbirds owning a 34-19 edge in the series.
  • Illinois State took both of last season's meetings, winning 72-61 in Evansville on Jan. 13 and earning an 82-59 victory in Normal on Feb. 8.
  • Evansville is looking for its first road victory in Normal since Jan. 16, 2015 when the Aces earned a 62-50 win and their third-straight road victory over the Redbirds.
  • Freshman Abby Feit has continued to lead the Aces, scoring a team-high 18 points and adding eight rebounds on Friday night at Bradley.
  • Recording seven points, freshman Jossie Hudson tallied her best offensive performance of the season since scoring 10 points in the season-opener against Brescia.
  • Bradley held Evansville to just five points in the third quarter, tying the season-low for points scored in a quarter for the Aces, matching the five points Evansville scored in the fourth quarter at Illinois.
  • Evansville has racked-up the steals this season, sitting in 80th in the nation in steals per game with 9.6 per contest.
  • llinois State enters Sunday with a 9-3 record with its lone losses coming to Marquette (58-41), Saint Louis (61-56), and Austin Peay (77-72). All three losses have come on the road as the Redbirds are 7-0 inside Redbird Arena this season.
  • The last home loss for Illinois State came on Jan. 26, 2019 in a 79-68 defeat at the hands of Bradley. The Redbirds are currently on a 10-game home winning streak.
