Previewing the Matchup
- Evansville and Southern Illinois are meeting for the 63rd time with SIU owning a 34-28 advantage in the series.
- The Salukis took both meetings earlier this season with a 70-57 win on Jan. 24 in Evansville and a 99-60 triumph on Feb. 23 in Carbondale.
- The last meeting between the Aces and Salukis in the post-season came on March 14, 2013 when SIU earned an 83-74 win in overtimes in St. Charles, Mo.
- Evansville holds a 2-1 record against the Salukis in three all-time meetings in the MVC Tournament.
- The Aces enter Thursday's opening round game at Hoops in the Heartland with a three-game losing streak in the tournament, last winning in a 65-59 upset of No. 3 seed Missouri State in 2017.
- Senior Kaylan Coffman enters 2020 Hoops in the Heartland as the most senior veteran on the team in terms of postseason play. Coffman has played in three career tournament games, scoring a postseason career-best 10 points to go along with seven rebounds and five blocks against Bradley in the opening round in 2017-18.
- Evansville finds itself in a much different position depth-wise as it has in the past two tournament appearances. The Aces have eight players averaging 19 or more minutes per game, compared to six in 2018-19 and five in 2017-18.
- SIU heads into Hoops in the Heartland with a 16-13 overall record and an 8-10 mark in MVC play, falling in three of its last four games.
