Last Time Out: Valparaiso 71, Evansville 56
  • Evansville was powered on the evening by sophomore Abby Feit and junior Anna Newman.
  • Feit led the Aces in scoring, tallying 13 points and adding seven rebounds in less than 30 minutes on the floor.
  • Newman was the driving force to Evansville's offensive effort on the night, dishing-out 11 assists to go along with six points and three rebounds.
  • The only other Ace besides Feit to reach double-figures was freshman Rylie Stephens, finishing with 11 points.
  • For Valpo, Carie Weinman led three players in double-figures for Valpo, accumulating 21 points on 8-11 shooting from the field.
  • It was a much different offensive showing for Valpo early in the contest as the hosts scored 20 points in the opening quarter, while the Aces kept pace with their performance from a night ago with 13 points.
  • After Valpo's lead grew as large as 11 in the early portions of the first quarter, Evansville pushed back as sophomore Jossie Hudson scored six of the Aces eight points during a 8-2 Evansville run that saw Valpo's advantage cut to just five.
  • What proved to be the theme for the night transpired down the stretch of the second period as Valpo continued to hit shots and took a 34-23 lead at the break.
  • In the second half, Evansville kept pace with Valpo, scoring 17 as the hosts did in the third quarter.
  • The Aces grew as close as six in the third on a layup by Feit, but Valpo pushed its lead back to 11 heading into the final 10 minutes.
  • The lead would reach as high as 22 for Valpo in the fourth before Evansville chipped away at it late in Valpo's 71-56 win.
  • The Aces and Valpo finished just one tenth of a percentage point off of one another in shooting percentage on the night.
  • Evansville shot 39.6% (19-48), while Valpo shot 39.7% (23-58).
  • What proved to be the key to the game was points off turnovers as Valpo out-scored Evansville 30-12 in the category.
Previewing the Matchup: Indiana State
  • Evansville and Indiana State are meeting for the 62nd time whent he two sides meet Wednesday night with the Sycamores owning a 42-19 lead in the all-time series.
  • In the last meeting between the two on Jan. 27, Evansville earned its first MVC victory since March 1, 2019, capturing a 70-63 win in overtime.
  • Evansville's 57-43 win over Valparaiso on Friday night at the ARC broke a losing streak of 13 road conference games for the Aces, dating back to the March 1, 2019 victory over Indiana State.
  • The Aces have had success over the last three seasons against Valpo and Indiana State. Despite not winning a conference game in the 2017-18 and 2019-20 seasons, during the 2018-19 and this season, Evansville defeated both Valpo and Indiana State.
  • Evansville's six wins this season are the most for the Aces since winning 14 games during the 2016-17 campaign.
  • Both Evansville and Indiana State are battling for seeding in the conference tournament in Wednesday's contest. A win for the Aces would push Evansville two games clear of the Sycamores with the tiebreaker in their favor as well with four games to play. A win for Indiana State would put the two sides in a tie with two wins in conference play, but would give the Sycamores the advantage with a better winning percentage.
  • Evansville is in search of finishing with the nine-seed or better in the MVC Tournament for the first time since earning the six-seed at 2017 Hoops in the Heartland.
Dominating the Boards
  • On Friday night, Evansville dominated the boards, out-rebounding Valpo, 46-30.
  • The 46 rebounds are the most for the Aces against an NCAA DI team since recording 48 rebounds against Indiana State on Feb. 2, 2018.

Double-Digits Again for Anna
  • For the second time this season, junior guard Anna Newman reached double-figures in assists, tallying 11 at Valparaiso on Saturday.
  • Newman also broke the 10-assist mark earlier this season with 12 assists against Bellarmine on Dec. 29.
  • Previous to Newman's 12 assists against Bellarmine, no Ace had recorded 10-or-more assists since Ashley Austin recorded 10 assists against Creighton on Feb. 12, 2009.
