EVANSVILLE - For the final time this season, the University of Evansville women's basketball team hits the road for a weekend series at UNI on Saturday and Sunday in the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, Iowa.
Last Time Out: Indiana State 85, Evansville 69
- University of Evansville sophomore Abby Feit scored a career-high 29 points as the Aces dropped a road contest at Indiana State, 85-69, on Wednesday evening at the Hulman Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
- Feit scored 14 in the opening half and added 15 in the second 20 minutes for her career-high outing and paired it with 12 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season.
- Joining Feit in double-digits was junior Anna Newman, who tallied 13 points, while adding six boards and four assists.
- Leading the Sycamores was Adrian Folks with 23 points and 13 rebounds.
- A high-scoring contest started as such early as the two sides ran-up the score in the opening quarter. The two sides combined for 47 points in the first as the Sycamores took a narrow one-point lead.
- The middle quarters proved key for Indiana State as the Sycamores gained control of the game. Indiana State out-scored the Aces, 38-24, in the second and third quarters as the Aces shot just 8-30 (26.7%) from the field during the stretch and the Sycamores hit 11 shots and got to the line 13 times.
- Late in the contest, Evansville mounted a run, cutting what was a 23-point deficit down as low as 12, but Indiana State pushed its lead back to 16 to close out the 85-69 win.
- Both teams limited turnovers on the night with Evansville committing just eight turnovers, its fewest turnovers since recording five at Bradley on Feb. 10, 2019, while the Sycamores turned the ball over just seven times.
Previewing the Matchup: UNI
- Evansville and UNI are meeting for the 58th time in the all-time series with the Panthers owning a 38-19 lead in the series.
- UNI comes into the weekend series with a 13-game winning streak in the series; tied for the longest active streak against the Aces by an MVC foe (Drake).
- The Aces last win in Cedar Falls came in a 57-52 victory over the Panthers on Feb. 2, 2008 and was part of what would be a six-game win streak for UE in the series that stretched from Jan. 11, 2007 to March 14, 2008.
- Evansville's 57-43 win over Valparaiso on Friday night at the ARC broke a losing streak of 13 road conference games for the Aces, dating back to the March 1, 2019 victory over Indiana State.
- Evansville's six wins this season are the most for the Aces since winning 14 games during the 2016-17 campaign.
- After back-to-back games scoring less than 50 points, Evansville has responded in the last three games. Over the last three contests, the Aces are averaging 60.7 points per game after averaging 40 points in the previous two contests.
- With four games to play, Evansville still looks to secure itself a higher seed at Hoops in the Heartland. Currently tied with Indiana State, Evansville sits in 10th due to winning percentage.
Setting Season Highs
- Against the Sycamores, Evansville set multiple team season highs.
- The Aces set season highs in field goal attempts (64), free throws made (22), and tied their season high in free throw attempts (28).
Climbing the Record Books
- Less than 50 games into her career, Abby Feit is already moving up the record books.
- Feit's 66 blocks place her in eighth in Evansville program history in the statistical category.
