EVANSVILLE – Joining the team from the tri-state, transfer Je'Naiya Davis marks the fifth signing for 2021-22 for Evansville's women's basketball team.

Davis joins Australians Elly Morgan and Kodie Myszka, fellow transfer Celine Dupont, and local freshman Maycee Lange as signees for the upcoming campaign.

"Je'Naiya will be a difference maker for us on the wing. She plays very hard and will fit into our uptempo style perfectly," said Aces head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells. "She is a proven college scorer. Defenses will have to make tough choices when guarding her. If you stop short, she'll knock down the 3. If you closeout tight, she will get to the rim and finish. From the first time I watched her play and had a conversation with her, I knew Je'Naiya was exactly who we needed here at UE!"

A prolific scorer at Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Ill., Davis helped lead the Warriors to a 21-4 mark in 2020-21, earning the No. 10 seed in the NJCAA National Tournament. Davis led WVC with 20 points per contest, the ninth-highest scoring average in NJCAA Division I last season. A 5'8" guard, Davis poured-in a season-high 34 points in a win over Vincennes on March 3 and surpassed 30-or-more points three times as a sophomore.

"I chose UE because I believe that this program can become better. I think Coach Robyn will be the one to turn it around and become winners," said Davis on signing with UE. "Also, I want the best school that is going to get me where I want to be for my career."

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Davis opened her collegiate career at NCAA Division I member Alabama A&M, where she played in 22 of 30 contests, compiling nearly 100 points.

In her prep career, Davis played for Parkway North High School. For the Vikings, Davis averaged 21 points and just shy of nine boards as a senior. Davis guided Parkway North to three state quarterfinals and a pair of conference championships. Davis broke the single-season scoring record at Parkway North and reached the 1,000-point career mark during her senior campaign.
