EVANSVILLE - University of Evansville head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells has announced the addition of Anthony Brammer to the coaching staff as assistant coach.
"I am thrilled to have Anthony join our program," said Scherr-Wells. "He and I instantly hit it off. He is a student of the game and a very intelligent basketball coach. Knowing Coach Fernandez at USF and having worked with coaches at FIU that come from the USF coaching tree, I knew I would be gaining a very smart coach and a winner. Â Bigger than that, he has high character and develops great relationships with the people around him. He is a great addition to UE Women's Basketball!"
Brammer joins the Aces staff after spending four seasons as the University of South Florida's head video coordinator. At USF, Brammer was responsible for the video breakdown, self-scout and opponent scouts, along with the team's video exchange. In addition, he was also responsible for the Enhancing U and community outreach programs for the team and oversaw the managerial staff and male practice players, among other duties.
"I'm very excited and grateful to join Coach Scherr-Wells' staff," said Brammer. "From our first conversations I can tell that Coach has a great vision and passion for this program. I really look forward to collaborating with her and this staff that has a diverse wealth of backgrounds and experiences in this game. I've been fortunate in my career to have been around some very successful programs and I look forward to adding to what Coach is building not only with her staff but with her student-athletes as well! My family and I really look forward to getting to know and become part of the Evansville community!"
Prior to joining the staff at USF, Brammer served as a technical support representative with Synergy Sports Technology from 2015-19 when he trained clients on all of Synergy's products and features. Synergy is the global provider of data, analytics and tools that coaches and general managers rely upon to evaluate players, create scouting reports and build game plans.Â
Â
A native of Yorktown, Va., Brammer also served as an assistant coach at Lecanto High School in Lecanto, Fla., from 2015-17, when he assisted with on and off the court practices and development, workouts and team-building exercises. The first of Brammer's two stops at USF came from 2010 to 2014 when he served as video coordinator for the Bulls' men's basketball program under former head coach Stan Heath. In 2012 the men's basketball team finished fourth in the BIG EAST Conference - with Heath being named BIG EAST Coach of the Year - and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, defeating California and Temple before falling to Ohio, one game shy of the Sweet 16. In that role, Brammer's responsibilities consisted of assisting the coaching staff with each of the opponent scouting reports, coordinating game film break down and editing for self-scouting and evaluation, along with handling the film exchange and creating the video playbook.
Â
Brammer received his Bachelor of Science degree in sports management in 2008 from Old Dominion University (ODU), in Norfolk, Va., where he was a member and treasurer of the Sport Management Association. He went on to earn a Master of Science degree in sports management from ODU in 2010.
Â
While attending Old Dominion, Brammer became the head manager of the men's basketball team, where he assisted the coaching staff during practices, coordinated game film and completed other administrative duties before rising to the position of graduate student manager and administrative assistant.Â
Â
Brammer has also volunteered at several basketball camps. He worked as a graduate assistant for the Nike-affiliated Boo Williams 17 & Under AAU Team, from 2006-08 when he assisted in developing multiple NBA and NCAA Division I players.
