Fun-Filled Weekend ahead for Aces at Meeks Family Fieldhouse

EVANSVILLE - Building off a come-from-behind win over Indiana State last weekend, the University of Evansville women's basketball team wraps-up a three-game homestand with matchups against Valparaiso and Loyola on Friday and Sunday, respectively, inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse in Evansville.

Previewing the Matchup: Valparaiso
  • Evansville and Valparaiso are meeting for the 22nd time in series history with the Beacons owning a 13-9 lead in the all-time series.
  • Earlier this season, Evansville built a 16-2 lead in the first quarter before the Beacons stormed back to capture the 74-62 win on Jan. 23 in Valparaiso, Ind.
  •  Friday's contest is the second of five home games to close the season for the Aces over the last seven contests of the regular season.
  • Over the last five seasons, when Evansville has split the season series with Indiana State, it has also split the season series with Valparaiso, doing so in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
  • Friday night's game features two of the top three players in The Valley in minutes played per game with Abby Feit averaging 34.3 minutes per contest and Valpo's Shay Frederick averaging 34.2 per game.

Previewing the Matchup: Loyola Chicago
  • Evansville and Loyola are meeting for the 43rd time in series history with the Ramblers owning a 30-12 advantage in the all-time series.
  • In the first meeting this season, the Ramblers captured a 68-54 win over the Aces in Chicago on Jan. 21. In that game, junior Abby Feit became the 21st member of UE's 1,000 point club.
  •  Loyola currently sits fifth in the MVC standings in a crowded middle portion that features four teams withing two games of one another.

Limiting Giveaways
  • The Aces have gotten on a stretch of games where they have excelled of taking care of the basketball.
  • Over the last five games, Evansville has recorded less than 20 turnovers in each contest, its longest such streak since the 2018-19 campaign.
  • In three of the five games, UE has recorded 11-or-less turnovers.
 
Third Weekly Award for Je'Naiya
  • In a pair of Valley games, junior Je'Naiya Davis returned to her high-scoring ways.
  • The St. Louis, Mo. native reached double-figures in both contests this week, averaging 19.5 points to go along with four boards per game.
  • Davis dropped a team-high 19 points in a road matchup with UNI on Tuesday, falling just shy of 50% shooting from the field.
  • On Saturday night against Indiana State, Davis again notched a team-high in scoring, pouring-in 20 points on the Sycamores as Evansville battled back from an 18-point deficit to capture a 58-56 win.
  • The junior now leads the team in scoring, averaging 15.9 points per game and sits fourth in The Valley in the category, the highest newcomer in the league in scoring average.
 

Weekend Promotions: Orange Out | Student Giveaways | Senior Night

  • Friday is an Orange Out with orange rally towels being given away to fans.
  • UE students will be entered to win an Apple Watch and can receive orange t-shirts.
  • Students will also receive vouchers for a free Azzip pizza.
  • Sunday is Senior Day and the Aces will host a pregame ceremony honoring their seniors.
