EVANSVILLE - Continuing to add to an already talented squad, University of Evansville head women's basketball coach Robyn Scherr-Wells has announced the signing of Irene Hernanz Pacios for the 2022-23 season.
"I am thrilled Irene has chosen to be an Ace," said Scherr-Wells. "She is a true post player that embraces the role of rebounding, setting great screens, and being a presence inside. She will bring us depth in our center spot. Her best basketball is ahead of her and our staff cannot wait to coach her!"
A native of Plaza Puerta de Aranguren, Sarriguren, Spain, Hernanz has seen the floor for both club and country. A 6'3" forward, Hernanz most recently played for Club Natacio Sabadell, averaging five points per game, including 15 against U.E. Mataro CAF. Hernanz has also appeared for CB Valle de Egües and the Navarra national basketball team. For two years, Hernanz played in Cataluna training with Liga Challenge. In international play, Hernanz played for the Spain U16 national team.
